AARON Macey is keen to play in three races at Canterbury today.
Race 2 – Obsidian @ $2.15
Not a lot went right for him two starts back when he got too far back and too much ground to make up from the tail of the field. He followed it up with another luckless run when blocked for room in the straight at vital stages. Last start even though a touch unlucky, I felt he raced much more dour when the sprint went on - like a horse looking for further. He's fourth-up today, rock hard fit and stepping up to 1900m which should see him ready to peak and take plenty of beating back in grade.
Race 5 – Antonio Giuseppe @ $6
Have taken a liking to this bloke at this bloke at the trials with two solid performances against genuine Saturday class horses. He has obviously been a horse that punters have had an opinion of in NZ, starting favourite in all three runs and I was impressed with each of his efforts. I think he will be much better over a touch further but happy to take the gamble each way with him today as I think he could easily be a class above them.
Race 6 – Wutai Moutain @ $9
Talented, lightly-raced filly that has been moved from trainer to trainer and has taken a little while to put it all together but was well backed to win last start at Warwick Farm. She appears to have a returned a much stronger filly this time in and will have taken plenty of improvement and confidence from the last start win. Happy to be on her each way again here.
