McLeod: Doomben mile a step too far for promising filly

MANY punters have identified her as the ‘good thing’ of the day at Doomben, but Brisbane form expert John McLeod isn’t among them.

Two-year-old filly Royal Tithe is the $2.50 favourite for the opening event at Doomben today over 1600m.

But at her 12th start as a two-year-old, McLeod believes this race may be a stretch too far for her.

“Royal Tithe is looking for the spelling paddock,” he said.

“She’ll get nice run but is under the odds.

“A Ticket A Tasket ($31) might lead these and is not the worst at good odds, while both Invinciboy ($6) and Persistent Shadow ($6) will run on.

“But this is definitely a no-bet race for me.”

While McLeod followers may choose to take a position of their own against Royal Tithe, his set has provided a number of recommended bets in the remaining races on today’s Doomben card.
