MELBOURNE Punters Show host Anthony Jupp previews the three jumps races at Casterton today.
This is a meeting that was transferred from Ballarat to Warrnambool to Casterton due to the wet weather. Will be a proper Heavy 10 way out in the west of the state!
Casterton Race 1 Ecycle Maiden Hurdle
Tremec is on the short back up from Sunday where he was just beaten by 1.8 lengths by Try Four, and is a genuine $1.3 chance.
Berning Desire beat home Deliberate at Warrnambool last start and so how is a bigger price? I’m taking some of the $9.5 about it in a very marginal race.
Casterton Race 2 QLS Logistics Hurdle
A race light on numbers but full of quality and interest.
Slowpoke Rodriguez ($4.20) looks a touch of unders for mine. Won a BM64 at Bendigo before being easily beaten as fav at Gawler. I’d want to see him do it first before he carries my money
Twin Tea Bags ($4) returns to the Hurdles after failing over the fences and then having a Weir maintenance run on the flat at Pakenham Synthetic. He has won over the course before so is some hope.
Caroun ($2.50) was scratched from Sunday at Bendigo and saved for this. He was going as well as Zanteco, who won well on Sunday, when he was brought down in the Kevin Lafferty at Warrnambool. Could be a moral here.
Casterton Race 4 Ballarat Jumps Steeple
Thin race where I think I’ll’ava’alf ($1.35) would have to fall to get beat.
